What are Free Radicals?

Free radicals are 'rogue' molecules released in our body as a result of excess oxidation that takes place due to environmental pollution, exposure to excessive amounts of radiation including UV rays, smoking and other contaminants as well as poor dietary habits. This can lead to the destruction of healthy cells which in turn contributes to ill health. Free radical damage also takes place as part of the normal ageing process.

What can help to control it?

Grape Seeds contain antioxidant compounds known as oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). Grape Seeds may help to reduce or even prevent the rate at which oxidative damage occurs. OPCs help to prevent damage to the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) content of cells and also inhibit some aspects of the Aging Process by enhancing the body's renewal of Collagen and inhibiting excessive Cross-Linking, (a reduction in flexibility, elasticity and functionality).

Grape Skin from dark grapes contains a compound known as resveratrol, which promotes healthy cardiovascular functioning, inhibiting abnormal blood clotting and minimizes the interaction between free radicals and LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), and increases HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) helping to keep the arteries clear and flexible.

What is ProAntioX?

ProAntioX is made from ground grape seed and grape skin combined and is sourced from fresh, cold pressed certified bio-dynamic dark grapes after grape juice extraction. The skins and seeds have not been subjected to fermentation or heat and therefore are high in proanthocyanidins in their natural concentrations and do not carry any off flavours associated with any fermentation processes. Many grape seed extracts on the market are made by a chemical solvent extraction process. This can alter the integrity of the proanthocyanidins or leave residues. Suggestions for Use

As this product is sold as a food / dietary supplement, and not a medication as such, and is not registered as a therapeutic good, we cannot state a therapeutic dosage. This is why we mention "Serving Suggestions" rather than "Dosage". Our suggestion is 20g twice per day and this can be varied according to the individuals body weight and requirements. 20g equates approximately to a bunch of grapes (less the juice and flesh). Absorption is best when taken with other foods or liquids. This is why we suggest adding it to foods, fruits, fruit juice or smoothies. However there should not be any problem taking it on an empty stomach, as it is a natural product, much the same as eating dried fruit. If taken on an empty stomach however, some people may experience a more aggressive detoxification by way of diarrhoea, which should subside once toxins have moved from the body. People experience the same on grape and grape juice fasts.
